Elizabeth og Torger

Namsen Salmon & Train Experience is a very special concept on a national scale.
Can safely say there are no similarities in Europe.

We who run this place are Elizabeth Hamsund and Torger Haugen.

Over the salmon we own, passes the Namsos path that runs between Grong and Namsos. The last passenger train went in 1978 and the last freight train in 2005. The railway line has lapsed after that time and we realized that it was too wrong that the railroad bridge was not used for any reasonable use. We applied for JBV in 2010 and in 2015 we were given permission to use it according to our wishes. A heavy planning and purchasing of trains resulted in the opening of May 31, 2017. There are now 4 railway wagons on a 180 meter long railway bridge that crosses Namsen and is one of Norway’s best salmon rivers. Here you can stay there; sit in the carts and look down on the river where the salmon is more active in the summer months. Likewise, you can stay in a sleeper from the 60s in the middle of the river. Here you will also find a sanitary wagon and a bar / kitchen cart.
Here is the short way down to the river if you want to try the fish luck.

Opening hours:

Because we currently have lots of events and salmon fishing, we do not open for daily tourism before the month of July.

Where do you find us:

We are located at Øysletta in Overhalla. From E6 Grong it is about 15km down here. You cross the south side of Namsen. From Namsos it is about 30 km up here (see map at the bottom of the page). To Namsos you can also come with Widerøe airplanes which are about half an hour’s drive from us.
